our story

In early 2018 the Addington farm was born. It all started with a bunch of friends who wanted to see more good blossom in their neighbourhood of Addington!

They were convinced that the farm should be a place that provides opportunities for belonging, meaningful work & connection!  Everybody needs connection in order to THRIVE.

Addington Farm operate’s as a charitable trust not for profit organisation.

transforming backyards

Food is an awesome common human connector that brings us together. We grow all of our veges on land that has been generously lent to us from our neighbours. We do this by transforming unproductive overgrown backyards into vibrant vege patches.

Along the way we provide lots of space for volunteers to connect in, learn and get into the mahi. We’ve been able to provide youth internships, voluntary work opportunities for people between jobs, seedling workshops & primary school farm visits.

what we do with the produce

The food we grow is shared with our volunteers and given to our community food distribution partner Addington Te Kura Taumatua.

We also sell our produce thru our seasonal vege bag  (CSA) programme. We have a strong self sustainability focus.  The financial income from our seasonal CSA is our main financial support.

“I get a weekly veggie bag from the farm and there’s such a great variety in them! I love knowing its been grown just around the corner, and that the team work hard in such a cool urban farm! It’s great to support local, the bags are really value for money and I’ve got to try crops I’d not find in the supermarket too.”
